various and sundry things

Flannery stumbled across Huck's nickname all by herself, the words were hardly out of her mouth before I knew it would stick. So, here's to BubbaMunch.

In other news, my mom left last night. I hate it when she leaves after I have a baby.
But, the weeks she was here were really nice and I even had the special "daughter" experience of finding leftover salad in the fridge, starting to eat it and discovering a half a pickle buried in it. Why do moms mix their leftovers? Will I do this someday?

Brendan threw his back out and I'm not supposed to be doing heavy lifting right now, so it was really fun to watch my petite mama hefting a five - gallon jug of water into the ceramic water dispenser.
She's also been known to sit on her picnic table and shoot at roosters in the barnyard.
Mama's little but she's mighty.

Huck laughs out loud in his sleep. He also smiles at me a lot when he wakes up in the morning. So gratifying when I'm tempted to be annoyed by how many times I had to get up and nurse him in the night. He's got a dimple and it melts me every time.

Flannery is using a computer mouse as a stethoscope right now. She's currently listening to her forehead.

Some things we love a lot right now:
Burt's Bees buttermilk lotion (it's the RIGHT scent for a baby)
Jan Pienkowski's book of fairytales
Jamie Soles' The Way My Story Goes
bedtime gin and tonics (or is that gins and tonic?)
Mr. O'Donnell (maker of said gins and tonic among many other things)
disposable diapers
